Adding AEDs and other equipment
Register AEDs from the catalog, add other equipment types, and keep statuses accurate.
Everything you track lives under Equipment — AEDs first, plus any other safety equipment types included in your plan.
Adding an AED#
- Choose Add equipment and pick the AED type.
- Select the brand and model from the built-in catalog — this is worth the click, because compatible pads and batteries will then suggest themselves with correct shelf lives. Free-text entry is available for unusual units.
- Give it a name ("Lobby AED"), its location (required), serial number, and optionally the person responsible for it.
- Save, then open the unit and record its pads and batteries — see Tracking AED pads, batteries, and consumables.
Other equipment types#
Fire extinguishers, first aid cabinets, eyewash stations, oxygen, and more each carry their own fields (class, cylinder size, hydrostatic test dates…), their own inspection checklist, and their own expiration tracking. The add form reshapes itself around the type you pick. Types not in your plan appear locked — see Locked equipment types and license limits.
Statuses and flags#
- Active units count toward compliance and raise alerts; retired or out-of-service units go quiet.
- A unit whose latest inspection failed is flagged "not safe to use" — that flag outranks everything else until a passing inspection is recorded.
- Search matches name or serial number; filters narrow by location, type, status, or "needs attention".
Tip: Keep names short and physical ("Gym West Wall") — they appear on labels, alerts, reports, and the calendar.
