What you track for each EpiPen and epinephrine unit

Each epinephrine unit keeps its brand, dose and lot, how many are on hand and where they're stored.

Brand, such as EpiPen, EpiPen Jr or Auvi-Q

Dosage

Lot number and expiration date

Quantity on hand

In-service date and storage location

An assigned person and a QR label

The monthly epinephrine inspection checklist

AED Log's default epinephrine checklist runs monthly:

Is the auto-injector within its expiration date? (critical)

Is the solution clear and colorless, not discolored or cloudy? (critical)

Is the device free of visible damage?

Is the expected quantity present? (critical)

Is the viewing window clear?

Is it stored at the proper temperature?

A failed check opens a corrective action and flags the unit. Administrators can change the questions or the interval to match your own protocol.

EpiPen expiration alerts

Every epinephrine auto-injector warns you before it expires, on the dashboard, the calendar and the alerts.

Replace an expiring auto-injector, archive the old one, and its history stays with the unit. Alerts go to the person responsible or to everyone at the site, by email or in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord.

AED Log's FDA recall notices cover AED devices only, so it does not track drug recalls for epinephrine.

Incident reports for epinephrine use

When epinephrine is given, record the response for review, and replace what was used.

The responder

The number of doses given

The reason it was given

Whether the person was responsive afterwards

Whether EMS was called, and when they arrived

The outcome, with patient details restricted to owners and administrators

EpiPen add-on pricing

EpiPen and epinephrine tracking is an add-on at $8 per unit per year, on top of your AED plan.

Every account starts with an AED plan, which covers all your AEDs at one flat rate for the tier. Add one license per active epinephrine unit, and pay only the prorated difference when you add more during the year.

Related: Narcan (naloxone) expiration tracking

Narcan is tracked the same way, dose by dose, with a monthly check and an alert before each one expires.

EpiPen expiration tracking FAQ

By its expiration date, or sooner if the solution looks discolored or cloudy or the device is damaged. AED Log's monthly epinephrine checklist asks about each of these and warns you before the date.

Does AED Log track EpiPen recalls?

No. AED Log's FDA recall notices cover AED devices only. For epinephrine it tracks brand, dosage, lots, quantities, expiration dates, monthly checks and each use.

How much does EpiPen tracking cost?

$8 per unit per year, on top of your AED plan. Each EpiPen or epinephrine unit you track uses one license.
