Fire Extinguisher Inspection Software With Monthly Checklists
AED Log is fire extinguisher inspection software that runs the monthly check in any phone's browser and tracks each extinguisher's service and hydrostatic test dates. It works as a fire extinguisher inspection app with nothing to install, alongside your AEDs in the same account.
45 days free. No credit card required. Then plans from $114 a year.
What you track for each fire extinguisher
Fire extinguisher tracking software is only as good as its records, so each extinguisher keeps its class, its rating, its tag and every date that comes due.
Class: A, B, C, ABC (multipurpose) or K
Capacity or rating, such as 5 lb or 2A:10B:C
Serial or tag number
Manufacture date and last service date
Next service due, with an alert before it
Hydrostatic test due, with an alert before it
Each extinguisher also has a location, an assigned person and a QR label, like every unit in AED Log.
The monthly fire extinguisher inspection checklist
OSHA requires a monthly visual inspection of portable fire extinguishers (29 CFR 1910.157), and AED Log's default monthly checklist covers it:
Pressure gauge reads in the green zone (a critical check)
Pin and tamper seal intact
Accessible and unobstructed
No visible damage or corrosion
Inspection tag updated
A failed check opens a corrective action and flags the extinguisher. Administrators can edit the questions, add their own or change the interval, and past inspections keep the questions they were answered against.
Hydrostatic test and service due-date alerts
AED Log warns you before an extinguisher's annual service or hydrostatic test comes due, and puts both dates on the compliance calendar.
OSHA also requires an annual maintenance check and hydrostatic testing at the interval set for each type of extinguisher. Enter the dates once and they appear on the dashboard, the calendar and the alerts, with the same early warning as an AED's pads.
Alerts go to the person assigned to the extinguisher or to everyone at the site, by email or in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord.
Incident reports for fire extinguisher use
When an extinguisher is used, record what happened, so the event is documented and the extinguisher gets recharged or replaced.
Fire class: A, B, C, D or K
Whether the fire was put out
Full or partial discharge
Whether the fire department was called
Any injuries, and a description of the damage
Its condition after use: needs recharge, needs replacement or still serviceable
Fire extinguisher add-on pricing
Fire extinguisher tracking is an add-on at $6 per extinguisher per year, on top of your AED plan.
Every account starts with an AED plan, which covers all your AEDs at one flat rate for the tier. Add one extinguisher license per active extinguisher, and pay only the prorated difference when you add more during the year.
