What you track in each first aid cabinet

Each first aid cabinet keeps its type, its size and its contents, with an expiration date on everything that expires.

Cabinet type, and its size or capacity, such as a 50-person kit

Contents and supplies, each with its expiration date

Last restock date

Last inspection date

Location notes, such as the wall it hangs on

An assigned person and a QR label

The monthly first aid cabinet inspection checklist

AED Log's default first aid cabinet checklist runs monthly and covers the contents, the dates and the cabinet itself:

All required contents present (critical)

No expired items (critical)

Cabinet clean and accessible

Tamper seal or indicator intact

Restocked as needed

Notes, such as what to reorder

OSHA requires adequate first aid supplies to be readily available (29 CFR 1910.151) but doesn't set an inspection interval, so change the interval or the questions to fit your program.

Supply expiration and restock alerts

Every supply with a date warns you before it expires, and a failed check flags the cabinet for a restock.

Expiring items appear on the dashboard, the calendar and the alerts with the same early warning as an AED's pads. When a monthly check finds missing or expired items, a corrective action stays open until the cabinet is restocked or passes its next check.

Alerts go to the person assigned to the cabinet or to everyone at the site, by email or in Slack, Microsoft Teams or Discord.

Incident reports for first aid treatment

When supplies are used to treat someone, record it, so the care is documented and the cabinet gets restocked.

The nature of the injury or illness

The treatment given

The items used from the cabinet

Whether the person was referred for further care

Whether EMS was called

Notes for the follow-up

First aid cabinet add-on pricing

First aid cabinet tracking is an add-on at $8 per cabinet per year, on top of your AED plan.

Every account starts with an AED plan, which covers all your AEDs at one flat rate for the tier. Add one license per active cabinet, and pay only the prorated difference when you add more during the year.

First aid kit inspection FAQ

How often should a first aid cabinet be inspected?

OSHA requires adequate first aid supplies to be readily available (29 CFR 1910.151) but doesn't set an inspection interval. AED Log's default first aid checklist is monthly, and you can change it.

Can I track expiration dates for first aid supplies?

Yes. List the cabinet's contents with their expiration dates, and each date feeds the alerts and the calendar. The monthly check records whether anything had expired and whether the cabinet was restocked.

How much does first aid cabinet tracking cost?

$8 per cabinet per year, on top of your AED plan. Each cabinet you track uses one license.
